post session

Today’s session was extremely annoying. I only lost 5 avg buy-ins but it was really tilting because I lost nearly all of it at $100s (and therefore lost a lot of times). There were a lot more regs online than usual on Saturday night, and the fish died down quite a lot. At the start I got a lot of $200s and $300s vs randoms, then I played a lot of regs at the end.

I ran awful and lost a bunch of buy-ins near the end of my session, so I am tilted at poker as usual when this happens 🙂 Gonna get out of the office and do something fun the rest of the night and get back to poker after the weekend.

adding some $300s

I added $300s today mainly because games were slow and I didn’t want to add $60s. I ended up playing half my volume at $200s, and the rest was a mixture of $100s and $300s. I ran slightly above EV and ended up a few buy-ins overall. Where $300s are concerned, I lost a couple buy-ins over 14 games.

Games were partly so slow tonight because there weren’t a ton of regs online. I’ve been playing a lot of regs in $200s the last few days, so it was nice to get a break from that today. I didn’t really play many regs at $300s, either.

I’m not sure whether I’m going to try to play mainly $200s and $300s, or whether I’m going to try to play a bunch of $100s still. In general, $100s incredibly soft, so it’s an easy option. We’ll see how it goes, I guess.

some progress?

The bad news is that today I ran almost 20 buy-ins below EV, but the great news is that I didn’t get tilted at all. Usually I’d at least feel very tilted at some point, especially considering all the 3-outers I experienced today. But for some reason I was okay with all the beats.

Maybe I was just in a good state of mind. I slept well last night, had a good work out in the morning, reviewed with a friend before my session, and ate properly today. Maybe it’s just everything combined and I just didn’t tilt as easily as usual.

As I talked about in my last entry, I usually feel pretty annoyed after a losing session, especially if I lost a lot of buy-ins near the end. Right now I feel great, though, despite losing 12 of my last 15 games. Pretty happy with this, and I wish it could be like this every time I have a losing day.

I do feel that I played pretty well today, though, so maybe that’s part of it. Sometimes when I’m losing, I’m not always sure if it’s because I’m just getting unlucky or because I’m playing badly. It’s a lot easier to control how tilted I feel if I know that I’m playing well and can’t help the fact I’m losing.

post session

I played a good session today. The games were plentiful and I got a great ratio of $200s over $100s. I also played mostly randoms in my 200s, which was awesome.

I felt like I played well most of the time. I ran pretty badly today, and I mostly kept my tilt under control. I felt most tilted when I lost a bunch of SnGs in a row, especially when they were $200s. I could just imagine the way my graph looked in HEM and it was tilting 😛

At one point I wanted to look at my graph and just confirm to myself that I really was running bad, which is obviously a terrible idea. I managed to overcome this particular tilting moment and the rest of the session was mostly okay.

not sure if want

I haven’t updated for a while; I got a little lazy after a couple of my sessions and then I didn’t play for a couple days this past week.

I finally cashed an LAPT satellite today. It was a $22 3x rebuy that had a package for 1st and $3.8k for 2nd, and I ended up losing HU. I would have obviously liked to win, but I can’t really complain. It means that I’ve made a slight profit playing satellites since starting, which is much better than the amount I was down to start the day.

I played a late session today and didn’t play much HU during the satty, so I only played 30 SnGs. They were extremely tilting and I finished off by losing something like 8 straight to be down around 10 buy-ins. I stopped after that little stretch partly because games were bad but mostly because I was more tilted than I should have been. It put me in a pretty bad mood in the end, which is stupid considering I am actually up for the day.

That happens to me pretty often, though. The way my last hour goes often dictates whether I’m happy or annoyed at my session, not even taking into account profits or losses for the day. It seems pretty ridiculous, now that I think about it.

Gonna enjoy the rest of my Friday night. Tomorrow I’ll finally play a real day of poker.

down and then up

Today’s session was really tilting for the first 3.5 hours and then really awesome for the last 1.5 hours.

I tilted a lot at the start and I’m surprised I didn’t stop playing. I’m also surprised that I got so tilted, but it was mostly because a lot of annoying things were happening at the same time.

I was having a bit more trouble multi-tabling than usual today, and I felt like I was playing a lot of regs at the start. I also feel like I had a lot of “OMG HOW” moments: when you get it all-in preflop and they somehow have the nuts again (or something similar). I knew I was really tilted when I had a lobby problem in the middle of my session and basically freaked out more than a normal person should about it.

Things turned around when it got later and I started to play mostly fish. I went on a really sick heater stretch where I basically only played randoms in $200s and lost almost none of them. I ended up finishing positive for the day, which is obviously awesome. I feel like I don’t deserve it, though, since I tilted so hard at the start.

post session

Today my friend made me put “stop tilting when ppl play badly but still win” in my list of things to work on because he heard me tilting my face off while I played a reg. This is one of my biggest leaks at the moment (not sure if I should be sad or happy about this).

Aside from my reg tilt, things went alright today. I ran hot again, and again I played mostly $100s. I played only 8 $200s, and all of them were vs regs.

run good

Today went well today since I ran really hot. I pretty much didn’t lose any all-ins.

My friend suggested I raise my max table count to 3 today, so I tried it and it went great. It makes sense that my volume was increased significantly by raising the max table count, but I hadn’t tried it before because I didn’t think I’d be able to do it. It was definitely frantic at times, but as long as I was focusing, it wasn’t too bad.

I guess we’ll see what it’s like to play 3 tables when I’m running badly 😛 Hopefully not anytime soon though…

I played a late session so the volume at $200s wasn’t very good. I ended up playing mostly $100s, a few $60s, and a few $200s. I finally got a couple non-reg $200s since it was so late in the day, which was really nice.

Back at it tomorrow.

hello more satty tilt

Pretty tilted from today’s “poker”. I barely got any lobbies playing HU and wasted my time playing LAPT satellites. I played 3 satellites in total and they were all extremely tilting. I was in for over $400 playing the 22r 3x, which isn’t even that far from standard but still ridiculously tilting.

I’ve only played about 7 LAPT satellites so far but I think I am done with them except for the $215 every Sunday. The non-turbo buy-ins are just too small to make them worth my time, and the 22r variance is way too much for me. Probably make better hourly playing HU and definitely with less variance.

post session

I reviewed hands today and discovered that I made quite a few mistakes in $200s yesterday. I’m not used to the increased aggression, I suppose, and overadjusted in some spots.

I was planning on trying hard to correct my mistakes today, but I sadly couldn’t get very many games above $100. Every time I did play a $200, though, of course I got snap sat by a reg. I don’t think I played as badly, but the sample size was much smaller.

$100s were good, though! Ran well in those.

Back at it on Sunday.
