the cost of being a woman

A lot of people (including myself) have wondered why more woman don’t play poker. I definitely know that being a woman is -EV when it comes to poker if you just want to look at it from an emotional stability standpoint. Women have hormone issues once a month. It’s the truth!

What I’m trying to say is that I hate hormones and hope they die in a grease fire. And also that all things being equal, I’d make more money if I were a man.

Had one of my worst days ever playing poker. No clue how much I lost, but I know it was bad. I wish it were one of those days where maybe it just felt bad but maybe I broke even or made money, but today was not one of those days. Today was a blood bath.

Try again tomorrow.

I read your post about Sarah. I have no experience with dealing with people with alcoholism, but have heard many stories. I hope, she is doing well and in a recovery program.

If you’re a big part of her life, you should go to Al-Anon. Al-Anon is for family and friends of an alcholic. They will provide you with support and tools to handle this situation. This is the best thing you can do to help your friend. They have the experience and knowledge to give you the best advice to help her.

Good luck on and off the felt and to your friend.

Thank you very much for your thoughtful comment. My mom (who once was very involved in her life) goes to Al-Anon and has told me that I should go. I know that I probably should, if not for Sarah, for myself.

I have been putting it off mostly because I don’t want to take the time out of my day to go, but I know it’s there as an option. I’m definitely happy that such a program exists because families and friends of alcoholics definitely need support. If I didn’t have such a good support system of friends and family, I think I’d have been there in a flash!

I think there’s still a very good chance I’ll attend a meeting in the near future.
